Job Description for Learning and Development Advisor:

NNL has an ambitious people plan that requires an innovative and inspiring talent development strategy to attract skills into nuclear for the future.  This is an outstanding opportunity to co-ordinate the design and delivery of development interventions within NNL, in line with the business and HR strategy.  

To support the future skills agenda in the nuclear sector, this role will focus on the creation of learning content and provision of advice and guidance for NNL colleagues. Using a forward-thinking approach to embed learning systems which strengthen a culture of continuous learning, to support the growth of a pipeline of talent to meet skills requirements and align to business strategy.

Main Responsibilities for Learning and Development Advisor:

  • Design, develop and maintain learning content in a range of formats including e-learning, online, virtual & classroom training, working in conjunction with SMEs to provide a range of learning resources that are easily accessible and meet learning needs.
  • Provide L&D support and guidance in response to requests from individuals and line managers and propose appropriate learning solutions in a timely and professional manner.
  • Proactively engage, educate and support our business in identifying L&D requirements to raise skill levels across the business and address performance issues.
  • Assist with the management and coordination of NNL’s learning programmes including face to face activities; online content; timescales; review and evaluation; to support the growth and development of NNL colleagues.
  • Manage L&D content in SharePoint, ensuring that it remains current and reflects L&D developments and offerings, to support employees with their career and development planning.
  • Support the development and review of L&D policies and procedures; helping others interpret and apply them as appropriate to raise standards and enable compliance. 
  • Support the implementation and maintenance of standards, training and an internal accreditation process for people in the business who develop and deliver training internally and externally to ensure effectiveness, consistency and quality.
  • Comply with relevant policies and procedures and contribute to risk management, governance and assurance processes to support overall team performance in these areas.
  • Recommend and implement improvements to L&D processes and evaluate L&D services to contribute to the continual improvement of the function.
  • Support talent management operations to assist in the design and delivery of career development interventions and learning solutions to enhance business performance and capability.

Essential Criteria for Learning and Development Advisor:

  • CIPD qualification or equivalent and professional membership.
  • Excellent organisational skills, able to coordinate and manage L&D business requests.
  • Great interpersonal skills; ability to work on own or as part of a team and to seek advice when required.
  • Strong attention to detail and a track record in producing high quality work.  
  • Learning content creation skills for classroom; e-learning and online formats and working knowledge of content development software.
  • Experience of designing, planning and coordinating impactful learning programmes.
  • Ability to obtain BPSS level security clearance (this includes but is not limited to identity, employment and criminal record checks).

Desirable Criteria for Learning and Development Advisor:

  • Ability to prioritise urgent work requests and to work under pressure to tight timescales. 
  • Utilise all available resources to investigate and resolve problems, to ensure the most appropriate solution is identified in a safe and timely manner.
