We're looking for a versatile and experienced Commissioning Manager who can manage all commissioning activities at the Preston facility.

We’re looking for someone who is self-motivated and a team player looking to push their career to the next level and keen to work and grow as part of an integrated team.

Main Responsibilities for Commissioning Manager:

  • Delivery of all commissioning activities at the Preston site, ensuring all commissioning work at the Preston facility is planned and that sufficient SQEP resource is available to deliver the plan.
  • Manage and develop the Preston commissioning processes, liaising with the other UKNNL site commissioning managers to ensure we are adopting best practice.
  • Ensure that all commissioning work has the correct documentation in place prior to work commencing, such as Commissioning strategy, commissioning method statements and risk assessments, test sheets etc.
  • Build SQEP commissioning teams, from various functions, to deliver multi-discipline commissioning projects.
  • Ensure the work of all contractors/suppliers on Preston commissioning projects is managed appropriately, ensuring that all the required documentation is in place prior to work commencing.
  • Ensure safe working practices are adhered to and promote a positive health and safety culture.
  • Ensuring that all commissioning activities comply with UKNNL and UK legal requirements, including Nuclear Site License Conditions.
  • Monitor commissioning safety performance and deliver commissioning improvement projects.
  • Work with the design teams to ensure commissioning is considered during the design process.
  • Maintain the commissioning SQEP process, ensuring that assessment of commissioning team member’s competence is undertaken.
  • Manage the handover of plant and equipment from construction to commissioning and from commissioning to operations 

Essential Criteria for Commissioning Manager:

(Equivalent experience can be offered in lieu if it is deemed appropriate by the UKNNL Engineering Manager)

  • Engineering Degree.
  • Experience of managing commissioning teams and delivering plant commissioning on highly regulated sites.
  • Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, be a self-starter, able to take responsibility and work with minimum supervision, at times under pressure with excellent organisational skills; be able to multitask and re-prioritise to meet changing needs and project deadlines in a team environment.
  • Ability to obtain SC level security clearance (this includes but is not limited to identity, employment, financial and criminal record checks plus 5 years’ worth of UK residency).

Desirable Criteria for Commissioning Manager:

  • Experience of managing plant commissioning on a nuclear licenced site with an understanding of the requirements of the nuclear safety case related to commissioning.
  • Experience of commissioning chemical process plants.
  • Understanding of the requirements of ATEX related to the commissioning of ATEX rated equipment.
  • Understanding of the requirements of PSSR related to the commissioning of pressure systems.
  • Understanding of the requirements of Functional safety related to the commissioning of safety systems.
  • IOSH training.
  • Membership of a relevant professional body.
