Job Description for Health Physics Change Delivery Lead:

The nuclear industry is currently experiencing substantial growth and investment, prompting us to enhance our health physics capabilities to address the increasing demand. The “health physics change delivery lead” will be crucial to the success of delivering a self-sustaining health physics model for UKNNL.

Based on the Sellafield site the HP Change delivery lead will take ownership of ensuring the delivery of the business change plan and its outputs. The role will require a hybrid, flexible approach of on plant activities and office-based interactions across the matrix capabilities within UKNNL to deliver the change plan.

The role will be reporting directly into the operations delivery manager to ensure that we are able to continue to support business as usual operations whilst moving through the delivery of the required changes.

Main Responsibilities for Health Physics Change Delivery Lead:

  • Delivering the desired outcomes of the change plan, including reporting progress to senior stakeholders.  
  • Line management responsibility for trainee / apprentice HP monitors.  
  • Growth, support and development for new HP team leaders.
  • Commercial engagement in support of the current procured HP provision.
  • Recruitment and onboarding of new team.
  • Training oversight for apprentices and trainees – making sure a quality packages is delivered from the training provider.
  • Ownership and accountability for HP improvements across Central Lab and Windscale.
  • Working with delivery operations leaders to deliver business as usual work with minimal disruption whilst embedding the new structure / changes.
  • Supporting those directly and indirectly impacted by the change program.
  • Development of training and onboarding framework for HP&S staff.
  • Development of career pathways for HP&S profession for UKNNL.
  • Sponsor improvements in working practices within the HP&S profession to drive efficiencies in delivery.

Essential Criteria for Health Physics Change Delivery Lead:

  • Demonstrable understanding of Health Physics roles and accountabilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience of stakeholder management.
  • Problem Solving.
  • Ability to obtain SC level security clearance (this includes but is not limited to identity, employment, financial and criminal record checks plus 5 years’ worth of UK residency).

Desirable Criteria for Health Physics Change Delivery Lead:

  • Experience of working as a health physics monitor in a nuclear facility.
  • Specialist knowledge of health physics monitoring (NVQ 3 radiation protection, City and Guilds radiation safety practice stages 1&2, ANIA Award in nuclear industry awareness level 2).
  • Leadership experience in a highly regulated environment.
  • Competent in Microsoft office packages (Word / Excel / PowerPoint).
  • Experience of managing change. / leading through change.
