Behind the scenes: how the Strategic Plan came together
A five-year strategic plan doesn’t come together overnight, and ours certainly didn’t.
Over many months, our strategy team worked closely with leaders from across UKNNL to shape the plan, drawing on input from our shareholders across government and our partners and customers throughout the sector. That collaborative process is what gives the plan its depth: a shared view, built with the people and organisations who depend on UKNNL’s science, of the role we should play over the next five years and beyond.
Once the strategy had taken shape, our teams turned their attention to bringing it to life for our people and our stakeholders, in the plan itself and in a short film capturing the scientists and engineers behind it.
Filming took our crews to each of our research centres. All but one of these sites are nuclear-licensed facilities, which meant filming had to work within strict safety and security requirements throughout, planned carefully alongside our site teams to ensure everything ran smoothly without disrupting the vital work happening around us.
It was a genuinely rewarding process, and one that gave us the chance to showcase the breadth of science taking place across UKNNL: from materials analysis to fuel inspection and decontamination research. We think the results speak for themselves.
